Little Red Dress

Pink Blush has delivered again! This store never ceases to amaze me. Can I just have the whole thing for my wardrobe already? I saw this red dress and I HAD to have it. I liked it because it's a good holiday party dress, but also super cute for all of the winter months as well! The lace detail tops it all off and pulls everything together. This wool coat is a LIFESAVER, walking to class in Rexburg can be pretty freaking cold during the winter but this baby keeps me warm and I still look good going to school (on the days where it isn't too cold that I have no choice but to wear my ski coat) it is a  Michael Kors coat and I got it for a steal last year at Macy's around this time, maybe a little more into January so keep your eyes out for those deals because now that Christmas is over they are gonna start coming :)

PS. I got Lightroom for Christmas, so bare with me and my photos while I learn my way around it.

Stay Fierce *

Okay, it's real life talk today. How often do you hear about being 'Fierce'? If you're like me, at least once a day (maybe thats pushing it, but a lot). What do we think of when we think about being fierce? I think of rocking what you got and OWNING it. However I find myself as a blogger trying to be 'fierce' by trying to gain so many followers my brain hurts, boost my comments on Insta and my blog, take better pictures, make friends with the best blogger ladies (which they're all great you can't really go wrong). My point is I have recently found myself basing my success on my follower number. Guys, I have become so obsessed with it that I have an app that tracks my followers and I check it more than once a day. THIS IS NOT GOOD.

I'll be the one to admit it because we all do it. As girls we find this weird satisfaction of having more followers than 'her' or getting more likes on a pic then someone else. I know people who post a gram and if it doesn't get a certain amount of likes in a certain amount of time they delete it.... Why do we base our success and happiness on what someone else does on the screen of their phone? Why does a follow or a double tap make that big of a difference to us?

I decided to look up the word Fierce on Urban Dictionary. I know it's not a legit definition but come on Urban Dictionary nails definitions of todays slang right on so it works. My favorite two of the seven that came up were these: A word that describes something as outstanding, really cool, eye catching, brutal and satisfying; the combination of a positive mental spirit, bold words and unapologetic actions used collectively.

Something I have learned from blogging is it is best to be you! Everyone says that all the time but it's true. Not only that, but if you want to try something new GO FOR IT. You would not have caught me dead wearing a lip color this dark 2 years ago, I didn't think I could pull it off, I was going to be the one girl that looked weird if I wore it. FALSE ladies. If you believe you can pull it off and you own it you can pull it off. Confidence is key! Do you and rep it hard. Be the bad ass you want to be or the beautiful girl next door. BOLD words and UNAPOLOGETIC actions. Do what you want for you, don't worry about what the girl next to you looks like or what anyone might think of your Instagram post, if you like it do it. No turning back. Following and likes are just a superficial number. I promise they don't make you feel better... I can have a really good gain day and pull in 50+ followers, and guess what? I feel the exact same I did 50 followers before that. But when I'm myself, positive about life, and I'm ME, I get sincere feedback and let me tell you, that is rewarding. When people can relate to you and you can relate back to them.

Basically this post is me saying forget the haters, be thankful that you are as awesome as you are and don't let ANYONE tell you differently. Do you. Always. On that note Stay Fierce ladies, Stay Fierce.

* Just A Little Sparkle *

A little sparkle never hurts anyone. I'm not one to wear a ton of sparkle and glitter and jewels. But I do love some glitz and glam! I love this shirt because it's an ombre shimmer. I bought this while I was on vacation with my dad at Priest Lake. It was raining the ENTIRE time I was there, so I convinced him to take me to Spokane to indulge in my shopping problem... So we did! We had a fun time exploring the two malls of Spokane that we went to, well at least I did. Pops kinda followed like a puppy or sat on benches. Either way, it's a good memory.

Confession: Sometimes I shop in the Men's Department....

Yeah, the title says it all. This shirt is definitely a mens shirt from H&M. But it's cute, and it fits well if you just go down a couple sizes. So, why not right? I love baseball tees because they are so simple yet super cute. Plus this shirt says Nashville on it, as well as a batter, so I couldn't not buy it.

Realization of the week: I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty last night and basically decided life is super boring if you choose that. You have to do things outside of your comfort zone, as well as actually do SOMETHING in order to make life exciting. I'm stoked for the next two weeks because I have absolute freedom before school starts, so I get to make life as exciting as I want to! :) summer may be over for most of you, but I'm still going strong! Shout out to Rexburg for that little perk! Anyway, here's to Thursday, everyone's favorite 'Almost Friday' day!!

Details...

Let me start off by saying that I am so happy I contacted Ashley Fox to do a photography collaboration with, check out her website here, her Instagram here, and her Facebook page here. I have been eyeing her photography for a while now and I'm beyond excited to be doing shoots with her. I'm not even close to having a boyfriend and you could say I already have my engagement/wedding photographer picked out! I love her work because her pictures don't look overly edited. They bring out the natural beauty in the people and the scenery. She does an awesome job, so go check her out. I promise you will not be disappointed.

On to the outfit. I LOVE this skirt. You can ask my mom, I'm usually a white, black, gray, blue only kind of girl. So anytime I have actual color it is kind of a big deal. What is even better about this skirt is it is stretchy! Yep, I said it. Stretchy. I got the clothing articles of this outfit from Francescas, and why I haven't bought anything but purfume there until now the world will never know. Because they definitely have gems like these throughout the store. You can say I'll be stopping by their store more often.... :)

FTND - My Story

Okay guys it's time to get real. This post is less about clothes, and more about an issue that is sweeping the globe. An issue that so commonly gets swept under the rug and never gets talked about. But the truth is, how are we supposed to be educated about something unless we talk about it? How do kids know that smoking isn't good for them? Because we talk about it, and therefore they are aware of the affects it could have. The truth is there is a new drug, and it's pornography.

So here is my story, and the reason I have decided to talk about this issue on my blog.

I was any other baby born in to a cute couple living in Provo Utah, a happy family living in Utah County the dad finishing up school at BYU. Two and a half years later my little sister came along and I had an instant best friend. We grew up with two loving parents, going on family vacations, having fun at the lake, and spending time in our backyard with each other; the typical American family.

I grew up with parents that loved each other, parents who supported us in what we did, and who gave us the world. I watched friends go through divorce, I met friends who's parents had been divorced and now had step parents, and step siblings. Never in my life did I think that would be my family. We loved each other, we got along, life was good.

One day in November that all changed, I learned of a Porn problem in the family (this post has no intention of pointing fingers, but to bring attention to an issue that has more problems then what lies on the screen) we were going to work through this as a family, because that's what families do. They love each other and help each other through the hard times. However after a week of changing things in our lives, being better at praying together, reading the scriptures etc. It was brought to the attention of the family that the addiction had moved from the computer to infidelity.

As any woman would my mom decided she could no longer live in this situation, that was when my parents separated and my family's lives would change forever. It has been almost 8 months now and as of today my parents are officially divorced. I'm now one of those kids I never thought I would be. Now my family gets to join hundreds of thousands of other families who are broken due to this new drug brought to us at extreme convenience thanks to the 21st century.

That is why I have total respect for Fight The New Drug. A foundation that is trying to bring this issue to the attention of people in a positive and cool way. Check out their website, become part of the movement. Because as cool as the industry makes it out to be, it isn't. Porn destroys families, and relationships. It is a drug of the 21st century, being backed by countless medical studies.

I hope that maybe my story can be shared in hopes that it changes someone's mind about clicking enter on that link, or purchasing that adult package on a business trip while alone at the hotel. In hopes that I can help to maybe save a future family, so theirs doesn't end up like mine, broken and un-repairable.

So in closing, a huge thank you to the porn industry with helping destroy my family and countless others, while making a profit off of our pain.

The Loft

Well it's been quite a while since I blogged (not having a good camera, and being a blogger isn't easy). But I went out with Rachel and finally took some with her! LIFESAVER. Sad to see her go in two weeks, but you can bet that I will be flying up to Oregon to see her in the future.

This dress pretty much speaks for itself. The best part about it? It was clearance for 19.99 + a percentage off of that. Basically a steal! I have been searching for a good statement necklace and I finally found one, this necklace just makes me happy inside...

These accessories get their own paragraph because that's how much I love them. My Alex And Ani bracelets. Each of these bracelets symbolizes something in my life. My collection means something completely different to me then the same collection someone else has to them. I LOVE this company and am completely addicted to them. Still working on getting my charmed arms completely charmed. But one bracelet at a time right?

PS. Tomorrow's post is one that is a bit more serious, but I'm beyond excited to talk about it. So please check back tomorrow, and share with your friends :)

Black Bird Singing In The Dead Of Night...

Do I wear this tank often? Yes!!! I wear it alllll the time. It's legit one of my favorite pieces in my closet. See it in other posts here and here. I bought it at Ross a couple years back, if you find a similar tank anywhere I suggest you snatch it right off the rack.

But let me take a minute and introduce you to my new all time FAVORITE store. I'm obsessed. It's called Alex and Ani. They mainly sell bracelets with some earrings, necklaces, and I have a keychain as well. This store is awesome. Each bracelet you buy has a charm on it, the bracelet comes with a card that tells you a little bit more about what the bracelet signifies. Each bracelet is made in America, with recycled materials, and infused with positive energy :) you can buy different bracelets that signify different things in your life, you build up your arm and create a collection of positive reminders. They have some charms where proceeds of your purchase are given to different charities, as well as they give student discounts! Major plus. I kid you not I will go in every two weeks when my pay check processes to add to my collection (it has grown since these pictures were taken). I highly suggest going in to their store at City Creek and checking out what they are all about. I PROMISE you will not be disappointed, and almost guarantee you walk out with a little arm candy! :)

Who's getting pumped for The Fourth? I know I definitely am!!:)

The round charm is 'path of life' symbolizing what I have gone through and who I have become from it, and the friends charm is one I got with my bestie Rachel, it is a charity bracelet. :)
